Operation Theatre Technician Course Details
The Operation Theatre course trains students to maintain and prepare an operation theatre for surgery and to assist surgeons inside an operation theatre. Their learning will prepare them for tasks including but not limited to arranging surgical instruments before surgery, sterilizing instrumentation before surgery, pre-anesthesia checklist, post-operative patient monitoring, carrying out Surgeons’ commands during surgery and taking care of anaesthesia equipment.
Operation Theatre Technician will cover the following topics
Basic Course Curriculum:
- Surgical instruments & Operation Theatre (OT) equipment’s- An Overview
- Patient preparation for operative procedures (Basic & Complex- Types, preparation & procedure)
- Equipment maintenance in acute care
- Anaesthesia equipment handling- Types
- Anaesthesia administering techniques- precautions & contraindications
- Infection prevention and control best practices, equipment sterilization and management
Advanced Course Curriculum:
- Overview to OT equipment’s, Principles of Anaesthesia Machine & its handling
- Gas Physics & low flow Anaesthesia, Emergency care to administer anesthesia- Adequacy and parameters check
- Techniques for Sterilization of Instruments & Equipment’s, Things to consider: Best practices
- Radiation Protection Techniques in Operation Theatre (OT)
- Preparation and maintenance of OT- Do’s and Don’ts, Putting on Surgical Attire & Surgical Scrub
Basic & Beginner Level Training for fresher’s as well as technicians with 3 months of work experience
- Delivery: Online self-paced videos with expert Q&A
- Duration: 60 Days access to Learning Management System (LMS) & 10 hours for expert Q&A sessions
For Healthcare Technicians or Paramedics with 6 months work experience
- Delivery: Blended format: Online on-demand videos with in-person session demos
- Duration: 2 weeks of in-person training on simulator @ Tech Mahindra Foundation SMART Academy + 60 day Learning Management System (LMS) access
For Healthcare Technicians or Paramedics with 1 year work experience
- Delivery: Hands-on using the equipment’s/ Simulator/Instruments and Site Visit
- Duration: 60 days access to LMS + 3 days of onsite immersion training + 2 days of in-person session for doubt clearing
